My first guitar that I saved for and purchased was a 1976 Fender Stratocaster. It had a clear coat natural finish and a really bright sound. Jack jsrip(at)juno(dot)com Thank you for the new giveaway!

Ah yes,

The classic Fender Stratocaster! Always a sound choice. Thank you for being our first entry.

My first guitar was a platinum series BC Rich Warlock, candy apple red with gold hardware. My drummer HATED it and would throw his DC-10 drum sticks at it anytime I made a mistake! It had A LOT of dents and chips in it by the end of that band...

Sears Silvertone acoustic. Ordered from the Sears Catalog. I was playing baseball when it arrived. Jack Peason threw the bat and it hit me in the shin. I was hopping around on one foot swearing at him when the truck pulled up.

My first guitar that I had purchased was a crappy First Act electric. All of the guitars before that were found in dumpsters, and passed down by family members. smeeput+@ gmail.com

my first guitar was given to me on my 15th birthday. It was a blue fretlight strat copy. I played that thing to death, called her 'Blue'. She's still hanging on my studio wall, cracked, broken electronics, and still loved just as much as ever, and she still goes on the road with me almost everytime, and I'm pretty sure she'll be put in the ground in her coffin case right next to me when I die. She was the first girl I ever truly loved, and she made me the man I am today. ~ georgetuxbury@yahoo.com

Mine was a '68 Holiday 9275 I traded a bicycle frame for in '88. I didn't think much of it at the time. The horrible noises it made when i banged on it made me think it was a piece of junk. Once I realized it was my lack of skill and attention span making it sound like that, plus it's apparent rarity made me wish I'd taken better care of it. Still one of my favorites to play. Love the sound of those gold foil pickups (especially the bridge), despite the hum.

My first guitar was a Squier by Fender Stratocaster. It was white, with 3 single coil pickups and pearloid pick-guard. I went on to add a DiMarzio DP-100 Super Distortion humbucker, and put it in a red tortoise shell pick-guard. I also added red "competition" racing stripes on top. After realizing the stripes and pick-guard were 2 different reds, I decided to order a blue pick-guard to make it a patriotic guitar. While waiting for the blue pick-guard to arrive, my home was broken into and my guitar and gear was stolen. So, if I should happen to win this strap, I'd probably find a guitar with a color scheme to go with it! Thanks mucho for the giveaway! Guitarfanatic1116@gmail.com

My first guitar purchase was a Hondo Les Paul, that I bought used. It had a cracked neck and numerous chips. It lasted about a year before the neck finally made it unplayable

My first guitar was an electric I bought off my friend Tom for $25. I found out later that he had found it in a trash can, made a half hearted attempt to repaint it and then sold it to me. I didn't know anything about guitars unlike my friend Tom; he even threw in a couple of guitar lessons into to the deal.
The guitar was a wonder (like wonder how anyone could play it). The neck had this slight warp in it so that it only played in tune on the lower frets. Still it was a guitar and by the time I learned what a POS it was (and that Tom really wasn't much of a guitar player either) I was hooked.

It was a Takamine G series acoustic. I got it for 80 bucks on new years eve.I took all my christmas money, walked into the local music shop and said "i want to play guitar."

The man behind the counter (Ian. Ill explain why i know his name in a minute) said "which one." Being 15 and knowing nothing about guitar i looked around and said "that one". My criteria? It was black. Thats it :D
well for 80 bucks i got it, left and i still use it to this day.

As i learned more about guitars i learned that this was actually about a $400 gutiar, solid top, and much nicer than the price point would make you believe.

Well just last year i got a job at that same music store with Ian as my manager. During training he was explaining the importance of making sure everything was priced correctly and told me about the time he priced a $400 guitar wrong and sold it to some kid for 80. I asked and wouldnt you know it was a black takamine g series acoustic.

He still says i have to bring it back and pay for it :D

So even though its not my main performance guitar i still write just about everything on that guitar and i will never part with it.

My first guitar was a hand-me-down Harmony Sovereign from my brother in 1960.

The first one I bought was a Kalamzoo-made Epiphone FT45 Cortez, five years later. It served me well for 30 years, until I was finally able to buy my first (but not last) Martin, a D-18.

My first guitar was a 60's Kalamazoo-made (I believe) Epiphone - not sure if it was a Casino. I bought this in the early 1980's as a teenager. The guitar needed to be set up properly, which I didn't know how to do, but it still allowed me to learn to play. It came with this monstrous Epiphone amp with tremelo.

The first guitar I purchased myself was a mid 60's Fender Tele, blonde with maple neck and white pickguard. It was purchased in 68 with money I earned flipping hamburgers at a fast food restaurant. I loved that guitar, unfortunately I had to sell it in the early 70's because I needed the money. I have regretted that ever since.

wow the first was in the 70's as a kid, and saved up newspapermoney- you are asking impossible though I do remember my dad killing it n a rage and me crying over it becuase it was mine I had earned every dime to get it and worked hard.

My first and only guitar that I purchased with my own money was a LXK2 "Little Martin". I bought it about a year ago right before I spent a semester abroad studying in Italy. There was no way I could make it 4 months without a guitar and its been a fantastic little guitar to have around.

I bought an old Red Yamaha from a pawnshop.. Nothing special. Alot of buzzing and humming, let alone my cables dont even work anymore haha. I got a couple other guitars but managed to lose them all somehow. But thats just my luck. Im back to my old Yamaha handmedown. I really actually love the thing. Itll always be the first with a special place in my heart. I called it Outshiner. In my pics you can see i got bored of the all red paint job and splattered white out on it in an effort to make cheap polka dots. Actually looks pretty good.
